Dr. Ayaz M. Durrani is certified by the American Board of Urology and a clinical instructor in urology at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston. He is a staff urologist at the Memorial Herman Hospital - Southwest in Houston.
Dr. Durrani received his postgraduate training in surgery for 9 years in England. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. In the United States, he completed his training in urology in 1976 at the Lahey Clinic Foundation, Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Durrani treats urological ailments in adults and pediatric patients. Besides general urology conditions, he treats cancers of the kidney, bladder, and the prostate. He performs vasectomies with no scalpel techniques and also does microsurgical reversal of vasectomies. He also deals with management of impotence in men. This may need oral medications, injections, some special devices or surgical implantation of penile prosthesis. Dr. Durrani has a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of incontinence of urine. He also lectures and writes on the subject of prostate cancer. He has developed instruments which are being used in prostate surgery at several places in the country. Dr. Durrani has authored books on both prostate cancer and vasectomy.
